Ashwini Nadkarni, MD
Dr. Ashwini Nadkarni is an associate psychiatrist and Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Nadkarni has been involved in the care of IBD patients for six years. She believes that contemporary medical care can overwhelm patients, so she uses a collaborative approach with her patients. That approach means listening carefully to patients and encouraging them to be active participants in their care.
Dr. Nadkarni has won several teaching and research rewards. Her research has examined the psychological impact of social networks and the use of telepsychiatry in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder. She has been quoted as an expert psychiatrist by US News and World Report, the Huffington Post and ABC News.
Outside of her clinical practice, Dr. Nadkarni is a board member for the Massachusetts chapter of Volunteers of America, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit providers of affordable housing and other assistance services to the elderly and disabled.
Dr. Nadkarni earned her bachelors of science degree from McGill University and her medical degree from Northwestern University. She completed her internship and residency at Boston Medical Center.
